Destroyed by the nor'easter 😢

Hey Reader!

A few years ago, a nor’easter (these crazy hurricane-like storms we get in the northeast) picked up an entire metal structure in our backyard and flipped it upside down.

That structure was our sukkah: a temporary outdoor dwelling we build for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, where we eat our meals for a week.

It takes a lot of work to put together, so finding the whole thing completely overturned in our yard was... disappointing, to say the least.

So when we heard another nor’easter was coming this weekend, we took securing that frame very seriously. Sandbags in the corners, bungee cords, the works.

And still, our sukkah took quite the beating this weekend; the top is completely destroyed 🫠

But you know what held? The metal frame we'd taken all that time to secure — and the top is a lot easier to replace. The weather is supposed to clear up by tomorrow, and then we can get back to enjoying the holiday.

It got me thinking about how often a disappointing response to our content sends us right back to the drawing board.

You spend an entire afternoon on a post, barely anyone responds, and suddenly you’re questioning whether you have anything worth saying in the first place. So you try something completely different the next week, putting just as much effort into it and feeling just as lost.

That gets exhausting real fast.

One thing Tammy shared at the end of our last Bold Content Collective cohort was that the course finally gave her a process she could come back to. When she wanted to explore a different topic or create a new series, she knew how to work through it. She wasn’t stuck figuring out where to begin every time.

She had a secure frame to work off of.

That’s why we spend time getting clear on who you are, who you want to help, and what makes your work different before building your content pillars and plan. You know what you’re building on, even when something needs adjusting.

Then we actually create content together, so you can put it all into practice, with coaching and guidance from me (and your peers) along the way.

Our next 6-week cohort kicks off on October 8 (next Thursday!).

If you’re tired of putting so much into your content and feeling like you’re starting from scratch every week, let’s build a plan you know how to come back to.

Got questions? Unsure if it's right for you? Just hit reply (or shoot me a DM on Instagram) and let's chat about your situation.

Boldly yours,

Hey Reader! Tzvi and I just spent Rosh Hashanah in upstate New York, helping lead services for a synagogue that's over 100 years old and struggling to keep its traditions alive. It was meaningful and inspiring. But one thing reallllllly stuck with me: the smell. Every time we made the 6-minute walk from our house to the synagogue, we passed a chicken processing plant. I've never smelled anything so bad in my life 🤢 Turns out the woman who owns that plant is the granddaughter of one of the...

Hey Reader! A week or so ago (okay, 12 days exactly), I got into a little fender bender. I was down a familiar road, when suddenly, I felt a bump on the back of my Subaru, as another driver was trying to switch into my lane. I was peeved, to say the least, but the damage looked minimal to me (I learned the hard way I know nothing about how expensive body work is on a car 😬😆). I filed a claim as soon as I got home. Which, of course, consisted of hours of back and forth emails, phone calls, and...
