He walked away from the great job (everyone thought he was nuts)

Hey Reader!

A few years back, my husband Tzvi decided to leave his well-paying job (fancy title and all), with zero idea of what he was going to do next.

Most of our friends thought he was nuts, and some of them told him so directly.

I knew he wasn't.

I've watched Tzvi make decisions like this for 17+ years. He has more clarity on his values than anyone I've ever met, so when something doesn't line up with what he stands for, there's no real question in his mind about what to do. He just knows.

Yes, even when that means walking away from a good thing with no plan B in sight.

That kind of clarity is only really possible from doing the hard work of asking yourself what's actually driving you, way beneath the surface decision. Because, as Tzvi says in this week's special edition of the Bold Women in Business podcast, "The question is never really about the job. It's about what you believe a job is for."

This week, I'm sharing a conversation I've been wanting to record with Tzvi for a long time. He walks through how he makes decisions, why most people get this stuff backwards, the physical signal his body sends when something's off (mine shows up in my chest — his is in his face), and the difference between people who talk about their values and people who actually live by them.

I think I'm also allowed to say it's one of my favorite conversations I've ever recorded 💗

Quick head's up:

We officially had the kickoff call for this cohort of the Bold Content Collective this past Thursday (which was incredible btw!), but there's still time to join. Doors officially close tonight at midnight. If you've been wanting to join, now's your chance.

See you next week, Reader!

Boldly yours,

Hey Reader! Every week, when I sit down to batch my content, I ask myself one essential question: What gear am I in this week? Low, medium, or high? And I'll be honest: The past few weeks have been low, low, and low again. A low gear week is when I've just got too much going on, and my content needs bare-minimum input. Between being busy with client projects, wrapping up my current Bold Content Collective cohort, and getting ready to leave the country for 5 weeks, it's no surprise I've been...

Hey Reader! Every time Tzvi and I come back from a trip, somebody asks us some version of the same question: "So, which near-death experiences did you get yourselves into this time?" It's a fair question. We have a bit of a track record 🫣 Like that time during Covid when we went hiking in the Adirondacks without food, water, or gear, and hit a full-on blizzard by the time we got to the peak. We swore we'd never do something that stupid again. ...Until the story I'm telling on this week's...

Wildlife gif. A white owl turns his head to look straight at us and has an expression of pure shock. Its eyes are wide and its mouth is open as if gasping.

Hey Reader! A few nights ago I was taking my supplements with dinner, fully on autopilot, when I realized (with a gasp of horror!) that I'd just swallowed my morning ADHD meds right along with them. It was 6:30pm, and I immediately started panicking about the sleepless night I was sure was coming. I take my ADHD meds first thing every morning because it's a stimulant, and my sleep is already a nightly negotiation with my anxiety and chronic pain. My very first thought, as soon as the pills...
